Who needed security in Berkeley tonight?

I was wondering if you might be able to help figure out a mystery. I was at dinner at Five in the Hotel Shattuck Plaza tonight and there was quite a bit of security presence. Should BHS’s schedule be changed?
The long-running debate over scheduling changes at Berkeley High School is nearing its denouement. Changes are being proposed as a way to tackle the so-called achievement gap, where too many students are underachieving in high school. At the core of the proposed changes is a required advisory period, so students can have, in theory, more personalized guidance through their high school career.

Adieu revolving pumpkin: demise of Rockridge 76
I never thought I would mourn the passing of a gas station, but the Rockridge 76 — at the junction of Claremont and College, and on the border of Berkeley and Oakland — was an integral part of my introduction to America when I moved here five years ago.
