Grocery stores in the City tend to be less accessible and more expensive.  The City &quot;lifestyle&quot; also tends to encourage more &quot;going out&quot; by young single males (YSM).   For example, my unscientific samples suggest that a YSM in the city is more likely to emphasize his favorite choices of burrito shops, while one in Berkeley is more likely to emphasize the most excellent nature of the burritos he makes at home.

Gourmet Ghetto absolutely rocks for convenience food but, in contrast to the city, you can get a tasty, very high quality, and nutritious lunch there for well south of $10.

Berkeley blows the doors of the City by almost any measure other than, well, access to the City and the peninsula.</description>
