Sungevity keeps a foothold in Berkeley
We reported last week that Berkeley-based solar power start-up Sungevity was moving to Oakland.
It turns out the truth isn’t quite as bleak as we thought. Sungevity is keeping its 6,000 sq. ft. offices on Bancroft Way, which will now become the base for any installations the company does in the East Bay. The new offices, in Oakland’s Jack London Square, will become the new company headquarters.

Wood Tavern set to expand
The immensely popular Wood Tavern restaurant (above) is planning to expand by scooping up the conveniently available next-door space recently vacated by Lulu Rae Confections.
SFoodie reports that Rich and Rebekah Wood, owners of the restaurant, which is located at 6317 College on the Oakland-Berkeley border, have applied for a permit to operate a spin-off eatery likely to focus on small plates, cheese and charcuterie platters.

A green, pedestrian-friendly vision for Downtown
On Saturday Berkeley citizens were given a taste of how their fair city might become quite a bit fairer when the people behind the Streets and Open Space Improvement Plan (SOSIP) held an open house to present a number of possible scenarios to prettify the downtown area.

Hundreds of people crowded into a gorgeously decorated Berkeley Main Library on Saturday night to toast local authors.
The honorees included Michael Chabon, Michael Lewis, Geoffrey Nunberg, Michelle Richmond, Alison Gopnik, Alan Black, Minal Hajratwala, Daniel Mason, Molly Katzen, Katie Hafner, Tamin Ansary, Andrew Beahrs, Sylvia Brownrigg, Ernest Callenbach, Novella Carpenter, Charlie Haas, and many more.
