Remember how the city council was supposed to vote on recognizing the Ethiopian new year? But the majority of the council was freaked out that they might be recognizing a religious holiday, and the vote was killed.

“’This is a non-political, non-religious event – a festival celebrating the new year,’ said Ermias Getachew, president of the ECCC.” That’s from the article the link goes to.

Kris Worthington stressed that it was just a new year celebration before the vote. But Wonziak, Bates and others didn’t want to listen to Kris and were certain that the council was voting on the recognition of a religious holiday.
