After several hitches which postponed its opening, Addie’s Pizza Pie held its launch party yesterday evening and will open for business on Wednesday this week. The New York-style pizzeria, which is in the old Spud’s Pizza space at 3290 Adeline, is owned by Jennifer Millar, who runs Sweet Adeline Bakeshop a block down the street, and Thomas Schnetz of Doña Tomás, Flora and Tacubaya fame.
Millar says Addie’s menu, which still needs some final tweaking, will include pizza, salads, and frozen custard. The custard, Millar told SFoodie last year, is “sort of an East Coast-Midwestern ice cream type… an ice cream enriched with egg yolks, churned at a slower speed, and held at a warmer temperature.”
Schnetz oversaw the redesign of the old bank space, emphasizing the building’s classic elements such as the moldings and arched windows. A row of traditional red banquettes lines the south wall.
Millar worked as a pastry chef at Square One in San Francisco, then at Garibaldis on College before opening Sweet Adeline. The bakeshop is seen by residents as a welcome addition to the neighborhood known as the Lorin District. The arrival of another of Millar’s ventures can only be promising.
