It was easy to follow Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s travels around Berkeley on Wednesday and Thursday by following Twitter. She visited some classrooms at Rosa Parks Elementary School on Wednesday, presided over a moot court competition at Zellerbach Hall on Wednesday night, visited the law school on Thursday, walked through Berkeley’s downtown and had lunch at Chez Panisse.

Here is a recap of Sotomayor’s movements as seen through the Twitter accounts of various Berkeleyans.

Is there on-line video of the moot court competition?

Also, I was just thinking: in spite of good civics classes in school, I’ve learned tons and tons of really fundamental civics since then by reading (and learning how to read) various supreme court decisions (and decisions from state supreme and various lower courts). Are there any high school classes that are incorporate lots of court decisions as primary texts? E.g., it’s a great entry to understanding the industrial revolution to look at some of the labor-related decisions from around the turn of the 20th century.
