Photo essay: Mr Mopps’ grand opening party

It was a story with a happy ending, sealed with an official opening party on Saturday, attended by face painters, balloon artists — and lots of wide-eyed children. A mural was painted on the store’s façade and photographer Richard Friedman chronicled the festivities.

All the remodeling and grand reopening and still no ‘o’ for the sign? Dag.

  • Devin McDonald

I know. We have had a bit of a delay on that- a combination of funds going elsewhere and permit issues. But we are getting a new sign pretty soon. Oh wellsers. Best believe I’ll post pics of it on the facebook page when it happens…

Or better still, Devin, send us the pic and we’ll publish it for the Berkeley world to see!

The fun thing, at least for me, is that so many of the parents bringing their kids to the store Sunday were brought there many times by their parents. Mr Mopps has a long tradition in Berkeley, as does the McDonald family. So it’s even more wonderful to see the store “reborn”, even with the missing “o” %-)
