As breathless fans await opening, Apple store sheds skin

For those of you hyperventilating at the thought of an Apple store being in our midst (we’re talking to you Ira Serkes), here is a photo of the lifting of the black veil, the peeling back of the skin, the revelation of the awesomeness within… you get the picture. Photo by — naturally – Ira Serkes.

As reported earlier this week, the store opens this Saturday at 10:00am.

    I only go to Apple stores when I actually need a new computer, every few years, so this is not all that big an event in my personal world.  However, I fervently hope that this new Apple store generates lots of traffic for the area. All retail has been weakened in this down economy, even the delightful 4th Street area.  Best wishes to the success of the new Apple store and good wishes of rising sales for the whole street.

    Berkeley’s large enough for two comic stores … and two Apple product stores.  Remember that Wai at MAC Berkeley at 2010 Shattuck is just a block from Downtown Berkeley BART … and MAC has been supporting Berkeley Apple users for decades.  Albert & MIng, the previous owners, had a walk-up hole-in-the-wall store on University Avenue around the corner from their current store.

    The 4th Street Apple store and lights are much brighter than any of the other nearby places … it will definitely change the feel of the street at night.
