What’s the most Berkeley car ever?

Respond to our poll on the most Berkeley car. Photos (left to right from the top): VW van by architekt2, Alfa Romeo Spider by d.massyn, Zip Car by akseabird, Volvo by OldParkedCars.com, Subaru by TheMacGirl, Prius by Lance Knobel, Mercedes by douglemoine

In response to our post yesterday about the planned Fiat dealership in Berkeley, several commenters wondered what car qualifies as the most Berkeley ever.

Might it be the venerable VW van, so popular during the city’s counter-cultural heyday? Reader Charles Siegel certainly thinks so. Wilbur W. votes for the Alfa Romeo Spider as featured in The Graduate, which was partly shot in Berkeley. Others might argue the environmentally friendly Toyota Prius is emblematic of our city.

And the worst drivers in Berkeley drive the top car models in this poll as well.  Behind a Volvo wagon?  Expect to 19 mph in a 25 zone.

I think it would have to be the Berkeley Sports SE492.
