An Oakland man on probation is in custody after a police investigation linked him to a robbery, a grand theft and an auto theft in Berkeley in December, authorities say.

Rudolph Valentino Oneal, 43, is being held with a $385,000 bail, and is set for a court appearance Wednesday morning, according to the Alameda County sheriff’s department.

Spokeswoman officer Jennifer Coats, of the Berkeley Police Department, said investigators linked Oneal to three separate incidents. (Scroll down for an interactive map.)

“BPD Detectives were able to identify Oneal as one of the suspects in three separate incidents that occurred in Berkeley,” she said, via email.

The first took place Dec. 16 in the 1700 block of Madera Street, in north Berkeley, and involved a stolen vehicle. The next took place Dec. 20 at College Avenue and Webster Street, in southeast Berkeley, and involved grand theft from a person. On Dec. 22, police say Oneal was involved in a robbery at San Pablo and Hearst avenues, in west Berkeley.

According to the sheriff’s department, Oneal also was arrested in connection with driving under the influence with priors. He appears to have been taken into custody on a warrant.

Police arrested Oneal on Jan. 9 in Oakland, said Coats. Oneal was arrested, at the same time, on suspicion of being armed with a firearm during the commission of a felony.

He is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing in Department 115 on Wednesday at 9:05 a.m. at the Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse in downtown Oakland. He is being held in Santa Rita Jail.
