Name that nosh. Photo: Emilie Raguso

Think you know food in the East Bay? Prove it by naming the restaurant and dish in the comments section below to win our latest contest.

Update, Jan. 18, 2:40 p.m. We had lots of good guesses, but the photograph above is actually pho gai (chicken soup) at Pho Ao Sen, 1139 E 12th St., in Oakland. It does often close at 8 p.m., and is cash only.

Share your photos for consideration for use in Name that Nosh by emailing nosh@berkeleyside.com. Include restaurant name, dish name and photo credit.

Nong Thon in El Cerrito, pho

  • guesswhat?

Pho, but it’s hard to say where, since the shot is only of a bowl of soup and fresh rolls in the background. Not much to go in terms of what restaurant it is.

  • emraguso

The presentation of the rolls could be kind of a clue… but I know it’s tough. I’ll try to provide more context and more specific dishes in the future…

Pho at Mint Leaf where Sharffenberger used to be.

  • emraguso

    No, but good guess!

Thanks for all your guesses — it’s actually pho gai (chicken soup) at Pho Ao Sen on 1139 E 12th St., http://phoaosen.com in Oakland. Definitely worth a visit. It’s delicious, and not a bad atmosphere either. It does often close at 8 p.m., and is cash only.
