Berkeleyside – could we get some reporting from you all on the “City projects large deficits for upcoming fiscal years”? I love barn owls and all but this seems like a big item…

Our report on the budget is on its way. Patience, patience…

In case you missed it, here’s our last report on the budget, from December.
    http://www.berkeleyside.com/2012/12/12/berkeleys-general-fund-revenues-may-fall-short-for-2012-13/

We’ll have an update (from this week’s meeting) up shortly. It is certainly “sobering” to have a $3 million projected General Fund revenue shortfall, but that can be made up by cost cutting, holding positions open, retirements, etc. I think it’s important to remember that the overall General Fund revenue is $150 million (expenses currently at $153 million) — to keep it in perspective.

It’s an issue we have followed (http://www.berkeleyside.com/tag/berkeley-city-budget ) and will continue to follow closely. Thx!
