Where in Berkeley?

Where in Berkeley?

WIB 2.27.13

Know where this is? Take a guess and let us know in the Comments.

Update, 4:26 p.m.: This was a particularly difficult one for all you experts out there and took two days of guesses and one big clue. But eventually MeeToo got it, by doing some sleuthing on Google Maps! This bird is on a garage at 1406 Hawthorne Terrace, just below Euclid. Congratulations, MeeToo, on being this week’s winner!

this is driving me crazy, I know I’ve seen this, and its location is floating around in my memory, just out of reach….oooh how annoying, but a great WIB and a great photo!!

  • Nice try, Fabian, but that’s not it!

Well, there used to be a lot of wooden bird houses there, but no wooden birds (nor palm trees).

  • Babs

On Arch Street just north of Rose.

  • Very specific answer, and in the right general area, but not correct. Thanks for guessing!

  • That’s not it, but thanks for trying!

  • Babs: Nope, but you’re in the right very general area, ie North Berkeley!

could it be The Lueders House on Albina Street i.e the turret house as us kids called it in the 70’s

  • Babs

On Vine. Up the street from Peet’s

  • I’m loving how precise these guesses are. Am beginning to wonder if there are clones of this here bird! But this photo was not taken on Vine. Thanks for the guess!

  • OK, it’s two days and lots of guesses later, and nobody has got it yet! Here’s a big clue, courtesy of Sandy Friedland who took the photo: our unfeathered friend is somewhere between Vine Lane, Rose Walk and Hawthorne Steps. Now what do you think?

  • MeeToo

Well, cheating by using Google maps, there is a garage at the curve of Hawthorne Terrace that is tucked under a palm tree: Is it located there?

  • NAParish

I also tried cheating with Google maps and saw the same palm tree, but couldn’t find the bird.

  • MeeToo: Yes! You got it. This bird is on a garage at 1406 Hawthorne Terrace, just below Euclid. You were honest about the cheating — and I don’t think anyone was going to get this tough nut without a bit of “creative” research — so congratulations on being this week’s winner!
