Tis the Season by Pete Rosos. Taken Nov. 30, 2013

The Berkeleyside team would like to wish you very happy holidays — and also remind our readers that you can chip in to help independent local news. We’ve delivered you a lot of news in 2013 on Berkeleyside, but we want you to help us do even more in 2014.

Advertising only covers about half of Berkeleyside’s costs. To make up the rest, we need your Membership support. You can chip in as little as $5 a month – less than a quarter a day – to Berkeleyside and become a Member. Just click here to get to our Membership page. (And if you’re already a Member, thank you!)

As a Member, you’ll be supporting award-winning independent local news. You’ll help us cover breaking news, news that makes a difference to your daily life, and learn what’s happening in your kids’ schools, and what your city’s politicians are doing.

We’ll invite you to our annual Members’ party and give you advance notice and special offers on Berkeleyside events.

Thank you for reading Berkeleyside and we look forward to your continued support in what promises to be a fascinating 2014 in Berkeley. Join here.

From the Berkeleyside team: Wendy Cohen, Frances Dinkelspiel, Lance Knobel, Emilie Raguso, Tracey Taylor and Siciliana Trevino.

$5.00 a month. What’s that, two lattes a month? A pretty good buy I’d say.

Ok, I think I can swing $5/month. I visit your news site at least a couple of times a day and find it interesting and entertaining. Ordinarily I have little truck with giving money away to a business that is supposedly for profit–unlike public radio and tv. Why I don’t find this irksome, giving money to your fine web publication, I can’t say, but I value it and I would like to see it continue, rather than cease due to lack of finances.

I signed up to give $10 month. I prefer making a single payment next time. I rarely use the credit card. But any-who, Happy New Year!
