Police arrest 2 after man brandishes gun in laundromat

Police arrested two people Sunday after responding to a report of a man with a gun at the Washingtown Coin Wash laundromat at 3215 Adeline St. (at Fairview) in South Berkeley.

Berkeley Police Lt. Dave Frankel said the call came in at 1:49 p.m. and many police officers responded. It is estimated there were as many as 15 cruisers on the scene at one point.

Frankel said a man pulled out a gun during an altercation at the laundromat, which is just south of Ashby BART station. Police detained a number of people and made two arrests, he said.

The gun was not fired during the incident and was seized by the police. Nobody was injured.


The police were leaving the scene by around 3:30 p.m.
