Police arrested two people Sunday after responding to a report of a man with a gun at the Washingtown Coin Wash laundromat at 3215 Adeline St. (at Fairview) in South Berkeley.

Berkeley Police Lt. Dave Frankel said the call came in at 1:49 p.m. and many police officers responded. It is estimated there were as many as 15 cruisers on the scene at one point.

Frankel said a man pulled out a gun during an altercation at the laundromat, which is just south of Ashby BART station. Police detained a number of people and made two arrests, he said.

The gun was not fired during the incident and was seized by the police. Nobody was injured.

The police were leaving the scene by around 3:30 p.m.

    “Those are my pink underwear!”

The sign says they are open from 7 AM to 1 PM. “The call came in at 1:49″‘ was the place closed? Or is the sign supposed to say 1AM?

  • guest

It actually says 10:00pm, the first zero is a bit faded if you look more closely.

My reading of the sign in the photo is 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The “0” after the “1” is a bit faded. Place was open for business on a day of the week that is typically quite busy.

while regular size homes in the area are selling for $ 750,000. some disconnect.

Three quarters of a million dollars to live in neighborhoods where idiots threaten people with guns at laundromats and people are beaten by racist thugs while walking home from work.

    Oh, Berkeley.
