Is it near Cedar Rose Park?
I know this one! On the Ohlone Greenway (or a break-off walking path?), near Delaware & West. Trains on the ATSF (now the BNSF) used to run through the neighborhood, up until the 70s.
Yes, but at this point it is not called the Ohlone Greenway. It is called West Street, even though it is a path rather than a street (as I learned from David D. on this site and confirmed on Google maps).
I think this is just north of Delaware on West “Street” – which was the old Santa Fe right of way.
Lincoln Street is what you see beyond the sign, where the cars are. The photographer is standing on West Street, which is actually not a street but a pedestrian path that is an extension of the Ohlone Greenway.
PS for extra points: Does anyone know who convinced the city of Berkeley to name this path the Ohlone Greenway? Hint: modesty prevents me from mentioning the person’s name, but his initials are CS.
BART to the right
Above Lincoln, near the end of Virginia Gardens.
Looks like we have a winner. Although everybody described the same location, this is the most accurate one of the lot. At least according to me, and I live so darned close by that I think my vote should count for something. :)
That path is called West Street, and this particular location is facing west (towards Lincoln Street) between Virginia Street and the Ohlone Greenway.
OK I think we’re going to have to declare several winners this week! We had correct answers from many, including from Bethany Herron who came in first. Then we had helpful qualifications from David D. and Charles Siegel among others. Great team work. Congratulations to all!
Hmmm… If Tracey Taylor is [Mod] … I guess that makes her Mod Mom.
