A worker at a Berkeley home has been charged with four felony sex crimes after the child of a cleaning woman at that home said he touched her inappropriately.

The 5-year-old girl told her mother what had happened and, the next day, told a trained interviewer of children that he had touched her once before, too.

On April 5, according to court papers, the girl was at a home in South Berkeley where her mother was working as a house cleaner.

She told her mother that “the ‘man in the hat’ just touched her vagina and buttocks,” police wrote in court documents.

The woman told police there was only one man in the home who generally wore a hat, and who her daughter identified as such. The mother later identified that man to police during a photo line-up.

The next day, April 6, during an interview at CALICO — the Child Abuse Listening, Interviewing and Coordination Center — the girl said the man had put his penis in her mouth the prior day and one other time. She said he also touched her buttocks and vagina with his penis.

Police arrested Dario Lambur-Castillo that day at about 3:20 p.m. at the South Berkeley house.

When speaking with police the following day, he told detectives he had put his hand down the girl’s pants and touched her buttocks, “but said it was accidental and nothing else sexual occurred.”

Lambur-Castillo has been charged with committing a sex crime with a child under 10, as well as three lewd acts upon a child.

He is being held without bail at Santa Rita Jail and is scheduled for a pretrial hearing May 19 at the Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse in downtown Oakland.
