Erik Jekabson Sextet at Berkeley Hillside Club Jan. 18, 8 p.m.
The Erik Jekabson Sextet with special guest John Santos on percussion
will perform original compositions and arrangements by Jekabson, influenced by Latin
and modern jazz, bossa nova and New Orleans funk, on Friday, 18 January 2013 at 8:00
p.m. in the acoustically excellent hall of Berkeley’s Hillside Club. The Hillside Club
is located at 2286 Cedar Street, at Arch Street, in North Berkeley. Tickets are just $15
($10 for club members and seniors).
Trumpet master Erik Jekabson, a Hillside Club favorite, has performed there several
times with different ensembles. Jekabson’s Sextet includes Melecio Magdaluyo on tenor
saxophone and flute, Jeff Cressman on trombone, Matt Clark on piano, John Wiltala on
bass, Smith Dobson on drums, and special guest John Santos, percussion.
