Berkeley High student in critical condition
A 14-year-old boy who was shot by his best friend on Saturday night remains in critical condition, according to Sgt. Mary Kusmiss of the Berkeley Police Department.
The boy, who is a freshman in the Academic Choice program at Berkeley High School, underwent surgery Saturday night to remove bullets a bullet from his head, according to sources at the high school.

Berkeley police make second arrest in murder
A member of Berkeley’s notorious Waterfront Gang, who has also played a role in an ongoing feud with Oakland gangs, has been arrested in connection with last week’s murder on Sacramento Street, authorities say.
Coleon Lee Carroll, 20, has been charged with murdering Gary Ferguson Jr. as he was walking down Sacramento Street around 8:45 a.m. on Oct. 26, as well with the attempted murder of another man who was shot, armed robbery and assault.

Shooting on Alcatraz Avenue
Berkeley police are reporting that a man was shot around 3:26 p.m. today in an apartment building in the 1500 block of Alcatraz, near Sacramento.
The man was transported to a local trauma center with life-threatening wounds, Sgt. Mary Kusmiss of the Berkeley police department told Bay City News.

Berkeley police arrest man suspected of murder
Berkeley police have arrested a 21-year old Bay Point man in connection with the Tuesday shooting on Sacramento Street that left 35-year old Gary Ferguson, Jr. dead and another man in serious condition.
Brandon Wallace has been charged with murder and attempted murder, according to Sgt. Mary Kusmiss, a spokeswoman for the police department.

Memorial set up for Berkeley slaying victim
The day after Berkeley resident Gary Ferguson Jr. was gunned down on a busy section of Sacramento Street, friends and family set up a makeshift shrine in his memory.
Ferguson, 35, was killed around 8:43 am Tuesday Oct. 26 as he walked near Johnson’s House of Style on Sacramento near Russell Street. Another man who cut hair in the barbershop, was also shot, according to his co-workers. He remains in stable condition at a hospital, according to Berkeley police.
Busload of Berkeley students witness brutal shooting
A busload of Berkeley elementary students witnessed the shootings on Sacramento Street this morning that killed one man and seriously injured another, according to BUSD officials.
A school bus carrying about 40 students on their way to Cragmont Elementary School was driving on Sacramento Street near Russell around 8:43 am when two assailants fired numerous bullets into two men walking on the street.

One man was killed and another was seriously injured Tuesday in a mid-morning shooting on Sacramento Street near Russell.
Two men were walking on the street near a neighborhood hang out called Johnson’s Barbershop around 8:43 am when they were shot by two assailants, according to Sgt. Mary Kusmiss of the Berkeley Police Department.
