Raguso accepted the "highest award to be given tonight" at the Society of Professional Journalists awards dinner Thursday.
The SPJ NorCal board said it was impressed both with Raguso's stories and the breadth of the issues she covers for the Berkeley community, as well as her tireless approach.
Earlier this year, Berkeleyside joined more than 80 other media organizations in the Bay Area to publish a day of stories focused on homelessness in our midst.
The Northern California chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists has for the second year running recognized Berkeleyside as providing excellent local journalism.
The Society of Professional Journalists’ Northern California chapter has awarded Berkeleyside its Excellence in Journalism award for community journalism. The award was made for Berkeleyside’s coverage of the Berkeley schools’ superintendent search and for stories about the proposed sale of the downtown post office.
