While an "alcohol-alternative" bar is coming to Berkeley, a straight-up speakeasy has opened in Alameda.
Berkeley’s Whole Foods market unveiled two new, powerful charging stations for electric vehicles yesterday at its store at the intersection of Telegraph at Ashby. The move brings the total number of public stations in the city to four, and Berkeley is on track to gain at least a further seven stations in the not too distant future.
GOODBYE SAG PANEER Zaika, the Indian restaurant that opened last year in the historic Koerber Building on University Avenue, has shut its doors. Paul Hoch writes: “Zaika’s has been evicted!” He saw the eviction papers on the front door on Aug. 10. They have since been removed but the windows are now covered over. The eatery, which offered “authentic cuisine from the Indian sub-continent,” lasted almost exactly one year.
