Berkeley police shoot and kill man

The crime scene where Berkeley police killed a man

Berkeley police shot and killed a man late Monday night after he pulled a gun on them, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

The man, whose identity has not been released, had been chased into Berkeley by the Albany police. He got out from his car on San Pablo near Jones and ran a few blocks to 8th and Camelia. After he pulled a weapon, a sergeant and veteran officer from the Berkeley Police Department opened fire. The shooting happened at 11 pm.

“This suspect posed a threat to the officers,” said Sgt. Mary Kusmiss of the Berkeley Police Department. “Two officers opened fire. The suspect is dead.”

The Berkeley police officers have been placed on administrative leave, which is routine in matter like this. The Alameda County District Attorney’s office will investigate.
