The Berkeley police department has issued a release on an assault with a deadly weapon which took place on Telegraph Avenue near Durant Avenue on Thursday December 30 at approximately 1:15 a.m. Two male victims and a few friends were walking on Telegraph from Larry Blakes. At the intersection of Durant and Telegraph one of the victims was approached by an unknown male who stabbed him in the head. One of victim’s male companions intervened and was stabbed in the lower back by the suspect. The suspect and two companions fled the scene on foot. BPD responded to the scene and searched the area for the suspect and his companions but were unable to locate them. BFD treated the victims at the scene for non-life threatening injuries and transported them to a local trauma center.

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory released today the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for their proposed second campus. The second campus, announced in September, is designed to consolidate four remote sites and allow for future growth for LBL, which is constrained by the physical limits of its main site in the Berkeley hills above the university. LBL is one of the Department of Energy’s national labs, and is managed by the University of California.
A group of north Berkeley residents who are trying to prevent Lotus founder and philanthropist Mitch Kapor and his wife from building a new home in the city lost their case which was heard in the Alameda County Superior Court early last month.
Workers at the Berkeley Bowl on Oregon Street are going to have another chance to decide whether they want a union.
