Join us for a Berkeley July 4th

Diana Howard sent us a sketch last year of the Round Park July 4th celebration. We’re calling all artists — and even the non-artistic — to let us know about your Berkeley4th next week.

Last year, we tried a July 4th experiment on Berkeleyside. We encouraged readers to tweet, Facebook, blog, take photos and send us comments on what makes a Berkeley July 4th. We want to do it again this year, except make it even bigger and more inclusive.

We want to hear from you whether you’re attending the big city festivities at the Marina, joining a neighborhood celebration, doing a backyard barbecue with your family, or perhaps ignoring all the hoopla.

If you tweet, use the hashtag #berkeley4th. If you Facebook, let us know on our page. If you have some photos, put them on our Berkeleyside Flickr pool, email them to us or post to Twitter with Instagram or some other service using the hashtag. You can even point us to videos you might post on YouTube or, who knows, send us an mp3 file with a musical contribution for the day. Let your imagination run wild.

We won’t be publishing on July 4th itself (we’re awarding ourselves a holiday — unless major news breaks), but we’ll compile all of your contributions and publish a Storify account of a multifaceted Berkeley 4th the next day. Please join us for the fun.
