Original story, Oct. 7: Authorities are looking for a woman they say turned suddenly, without provocation, and violently shoved an 85-year-old pedestrian to the ground as she walked in downtown Berkeley in September.

The assault caused serious injuries, and the victim required treatment at the hospital. Authorities have released a video (below) that shows what took place.

According to police, the 85-year-old Oakland woman was walking with a relative on Shattuck Avenue near Allston Way on Sept. 23 just after 9:30 p.m. when a woman who had passed them rushed back at them, forcefully pushed the Oakland woman to the ground, and immediately walked away.

Police have released the following video of the assault, and are asking for help to find the assailant.

Police describe the person responsible for the attack as a black woman in her 50s with short hair. She appeared about 5 feet 6 inches tall with a medium build, and was wearing a long gray coat and dark green baggy pants. She was pushing a shopping cart.

The woman is wanted on suspicion of felony assault and elder abuse.

Police released no further information about the condition or injuries of the woman who was pushed.
