Quality journalism matters for the health of our community

We started Berkeleyside nine years ago with the simple goal of providing a trusted, independent source of news in our city. We cover breaking stories, dig in depth into important issues, and celebrating the arts and cultural events.

We believe quality journalism matters for the health of our community and that everyone in the city should have unimpeded access to it.

That’s why we don’t have a paywall on our site or charge a subscription fee.

But, while we don’t require you to pay for Berkeleyside, we would like you to pay for Berkeleyside. Over 1,500 of your fellow Berkeleyans are members of Berkeleyside, which is the most important reason why we’re able to be on the streets, in council meetings, at the school board, at the zoning board, and so much more.

Would you chip in to Berkeleyside and become a member today?
