Jeanne Carstensen is a freelance writer in San Francisco. Her writing has been published in The New York Times, The Intercept, Nautilus, The San Francisco Chronicle, and other publications. Her radio stories have been broadcast on PRI’s The World and NPR.
Berkeleyside won the community journalism honor for the third time. Natalie Orenstein was recognized for her series on Berkeley’s landmark school integration program.
The trio are being honored by the Berkeley Community Fund for their “vision and steadfastness” in creating a news site that Berkeley citizens rely on.
