The Berkeley Police Department is investigating a rape reported early Sunday morning at a UC Berkeley fraternity. A local resident familiar with the case identified the frat as Sigma Phi Epsilon.
Firefighters responded to a Cal fraternity Sunday and found smoke but no fire. One young man had a medical emergency while firefighters were there, and was taken to the hospital.
In recent months, the city and campus community have worked together to improve fire safety in large group homes, in particular, before special events or parties.

Police arrested a 20-year-old Cal student on suspicion of rape in connection with a case from earlier this year reported to have taken place at a fraternity party. The DA's office announced Friday afternoon it would not file charges.
