A man who accidentally drove his van into the San Francisco Bay near HS Lordships restaurant in Berkeley just after midnight Friday managed to get back to land before authorities arrived to save him.
It’s one of the highlights on the Berkeley calendar: the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast, and this year it takes place on Monday Jan. 20, 8-10 a.m., at Hs Lordships, on the Berkeley Marina.
At HS Lordships at the Berkeley marina, $35 gets you all-you-can-eat of a vast array of food.
In its 30 years of operation, the Berkeley Public Education Foundation has raised more than $12 million and channeled more than 750,000 volunteer hours straight into Berkeley’s public schools, directly supporting the district’s 550 teachers. On Friday last week, in a single luncheon, it raised another $210,000, honored a select group of educators and administrators, along with a former Berkeley High student, and also marked two significant changes to its organization.
