Update, June 12: The 25-year-old UC Berkeley graduate student who was convicted of killing his girlfriend and her 6-year-old son last year in a drunk driving crash was sentenced to prison for six years earlier this week, according to the Oakland Tribune. According to reports, Jose Lumbreras will be released in about two years after receiving credit for time served.
The 6-year-old boy who was in a car that hit a traffic roundabout at 64 miles per hour and rammed into a tree died of his injuries on Friday.
The 24-year old man who crashed a car into a traffic circle in Berkeley on May 18, killing his 22-year old girlfriend and seriously injuring her 6-year old son, has been charged with vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and a series of other felony counts.
Update, 11:32 am: All three of the occupants of the Cadillac are currently Berkeley residents, according to new information released by BPD.
